In Loving Memory

Patricia L. Donahue, Philadelphia, PA
Empress of the Universe
A thousand trees, amber leaves
I see them all in splendid glory,
blue dark ocean, continuous motion
in clear glass bottle I write her story.
Green rolling pastures, nature's masters
on clover and blade walks this passerby,
pale blue soft sky, clouds passing by
I raise this voice and I cry,
all nature's beauty, however moody
with you could not compare,
bolt lightning strikes, no two alike
could match your beauty fair.
No wonder then, all men you bend
to kneel and bow before you,
and I alone, once cold as stone
was first to sing your glory
